  • Yes. Counselling offers a confidential space for children and young people to talk openly.

There are clear limits to confidentiality where there are concerns about a child’s safety or the safety of others. In these situations, the counsellor will follow safeguarding procedures and share information with appropriate professionals, always in the child’s best interests.

  • We want to work in partnership with parents. The therapist will meet with you before the work with your child begins. As the work progresses, where appropriate, therapists may share general themes from the work rather than specific details.

  • Your support is important. You can help by encouraging your child to attend sessions regularly, respecting their privacy, being open to general feedback, and letting Elizabeth House in advance know if your child cannot attend a session.

Before counselling begins, you will be asked to meet with the therapist, complete a Parent/Carer Agreement Form and a Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ).

  • Speak with a member of the Elizabeth House team, or email us directly at hello@roomcounselling.org. We will then get in touch with you to explore whether counselling is suitable and discuss next steps.

This is made possible due to the support we receive from Islington Council’s Community Chest: funded by Islington Council, in partnership with Cripplegate Foundation.
